Once you start getting visitors to your websites, you want to keep them!  There are many inviting ways to let people know to stay.  Ask yourself, what keeps my attention when I visit a website?  Take a look at the tips below for helping to keep your visitors.

Update Contents :: Have you ever visited a website that NEVER updates?  It is hard to continue to return if you never see a new article or idea.  If you are just planning to build a website, ask yourself will you be able to come up with content for the website?  If it cannot be updated frequently because of lack of change, is there a high need for the information that you are offering? If you rarely or never update, many people will not come back to read the same information over and over.  Also, if your only change in content are the ads that are placed on your website, that might not be the best route.  People usually visit a website to read the information it provides.  Having advertisements to browse is just an added bonus.

Create A Newsletter :: Let your visitors know what is going on with your website.  Monthly or weekly newsletters can be a GREAT place for announcing new updates regarding your site, and business.  Make sure and add other interesting and creative content as well. Contests :: Contests are a great interactive way to have people come back to your website.  The more contests you offer, a lot of times, the more the visitors will return. Making contests interactive where they come back daily will help your statistics jump, and help your name become memorable.  Contests also bring in good Word of Mouth advertising for your business.

Choose the Right Name :: Choosing the type of name that is easy to remember yet describes the type of website can be difficult at times.  Domain name registration, and trademarked names are taking many of the ideal names fast.  If you are choosing a domain name, try to stay away from difficult words that may be misspelled, or hyphenated domains. Registering a domain name is a very easy task.  Never have someone else register it for you unless you know that you will have sole access to the domain name after the purchase, and change the password and contact email within your domain name control panel to your own.

Unique Concepts :: Have you ever gone to Google and searched one keyword and come up with thousands of results? Some people believe that if I make it... they will come.... not anymore!  The internet is so saturated with websites now, that there really is not an original concept out there.  "Unique" does not seem to pertain to anything on the internet these days.  Also, many times, if you do come up with an original idea, eventually, someone will come along and replicate it, sometimes stating that it was their idea!  This can be very frustrating, however, keep striving for change.  A person that has great ideas that can implement them will be far more successful than the followers that cannot.  If you are really concerned with your idea or content being copied, look into getting it Patented, Trademarked or Copyrighted.

Fast Response Time :: An online business is online 24 hours a day 7 days a week (that is, if you have a good hosting provider) and so you will be receiving emails everyday.  Some emails may be general questions, comments, or concerns, always treat all emails as a very important item of business.  The quicker you respond to an email can mean the next sale.  Many times, potential clients will email, and then move on.  If they email another website after yours, then usually it is the person that answers first that will receive the sale.  If you plan on leaving the business unattended for more than a day, leave a quick autoresponse message.  This lets them know that you are interested, but away at that time.
